State of the Industry

Here are some trends I’ve noted in the executive search field:

Regionally and Worldwide the Executive Search Industry has seen a significant shift in quality over quantity as recently publicized in the Association of Executive Search Consultants Q2 “AESC State of the Executive search Industry Report.”  According to AESC the average fee per assignment has risen in the second quarter over the same period a year ago, while the number of new searches fell. The report goes on to report the following industry trends:

  • The Average Net Revenues is up from last year
  • The Average Revenue Per Consultant is roughly the same since last year
  • The average Fee Per Assignment is up year-on-year +6-9%
  • The Average Number of searches started is down -11.5%
  • The Average Number of Searches started by Industry shows an increase in Financial, Life Sciences/Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Products, while Industrial and Non-Profit are down year-on-year.

We continue to see clients requesting a mix of retained search and leadership consulting expertise from their search consultants.  Europe is leading this trend…with North America catching on.  In this San Francisco office we have providing leadership consulting services all along and look to expand our offerings by adding a seasoned Consultant and continuing to provide current services via personal and team coaching, professional assessment tools, and online communications.

We continue to add to our own team, welcoming David Snyder to our practice as a Principal Consultant, specializing in Government, Education & Non-Profit and Consumer Product and Services.  See article on David in our newsletter.

We also welcome Michael Marinacci, our Knowledge Management expert, to assist with candidate and company research and to manage our database.

The San Francisco office welcomes Jim McFadzean, Director, and new North America Technology Industry Practice Leader.  Jim brings over 25 years of recruiting and search experience in the Technology industry.

We are looking to expand our team even further and welcome your suggestions and recommendations.
